visit to hospital er
have awoken today a tad exhausted from the result of a lovely (not) visit to canberra emergency department last night.
goob came down with the lurgy on monday - but instead of remaining as a respiratory flu thing (like it was for mr w. and for me - she started to get more and more pains in her abdomen - and more exactly on the right hand side (in that appendix region).
last night she was curled in a ball in loads of pain - tears - the works - it wasn't a pretty thing.
tried to get in to see a doctor yesterday afternoon - but alas one needs to book a year in advance to get a doctors appointment down here (ok - that may be a little exaggerated - but it's impossible to get appointments without some major lead in time) - so we made the decision to head to the er department and try to get to the bottom of the cause.
blood tests were taken - vitals were checked - diagnosis - well there really isn't one!
they think it might be viral (linked to the lurgy & lymph nodes etc) - but for now we just have to wait and see how she goes.
she's awoken ok - no major stabbing pain like last night - but it's still 'there'.
goob is my 'hospital and strange medical thingy' child.
she's already had 4 operations in her 15 years of life (infected tear duct (6mths old) / trigger thumb (explained a little here - but beware there's a yucky visual there!) / removal of a little growth on her knee / tonsil removal); 3 broken arms (2 right/1 left) and a broken collar bone (falling out of bed while legs were wrapped up in the bed covers when she was 2 - lovely!).
we're used to the hospital waiting game goob and i!!!!
thank goodness there are no netball games on today.
yay for school holiday goodness.
triple j has school hols for the next 2 weeks.
goob and eky still have one week of school - as we live on the border of nsw and act - and none of the holidays match up this year - they are all out (the holidays i mean) by one week - bliss (not).
i'm off to potter around and take things easy today.
hope the world is calmer where ever you are.
